I am not usually interested in computer games, but due to this being another possible 'breakthrough' in interactive/3D media, I thought it was worth a blog post.
The Nintendo 3DS is the latest addition to the Nintendo DS. Still being a hand held device, the 3DS (as the name suggests) has a 3D screen; unlike the cinema where the object comes out from the screen, the 3DS's objects are in the distance (giving the game play 'depth'). It can only be appreciated when played.
The only faults would be that you would need to keep your head steady to keep the objects in-line/order and there have been reports of the 3D being a strain on your eyes. Nintendo suggest you should only play for 30 minutes at a time.

Digital Consequence
This was an experiemental piece which was influenced by the drawing game, 'consequence'. The idea is for a person to take a picture of their face, then let the next person take a picture of theirs and so on and so forth. Each time a picture is taken, it captures a section of your face making a new funny face when added to other peoples sections . It was displayed in our second year exhibition and went down very well (great fun).

H&M 3D projection
Another moving media post!
Interested with how versatile Modul8 is, I wanted to see how far people have taken it in their projection projects....
Below Muse, an interactive based design studio, collaborated with H&M to reveal their flagship store in Amsterdam by using 3D projection mapping on the historic building. The 'show' lasted for up to three minutes of magical lights and cool effects.

Modul8
I have always been interested in moving and interactive media. On my hunt through the web, I came across people experimenting and tutorials with programs I hadn't heard of such as Modul8.
Modul8 is a software used for performance and real time video. Perfect for interactive installations, live performance, 'improvisational creativity' and will work well in 3D spaces. Firstly check out some experiments taken out (here) by Luke Willetts, final year multimedia design student.
This is an experiment by Melbourne based installation artisist ENESS.
